WHAT IS BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION THERAPY?

If you haven’t seen our latest Instagram post on this technique, start here!

What if I told you there was a way to recover from your injury faster, get stronger and add muscle without putting as much stress through your body? Pretty much everyone would sign up for that. You would be crazy not to, right? Well, that’s where blood flow restriction comes in. By using blood flow restriction to recover from your injury, you’re able to continue strengthening and build your strength up faster to get you back to doing what you love.

BOTTOM LINE FOR YOU

We can get you to recover from your injury faster by allowing you to get stronger, faster, and with less pain.

WHAT IS IT?

Blood Flow Restriction involves reducing the blood flow (obviously) to your muscles while you perform an exercise. By reducing the amount of oxygen that gets to the muscle, it allows the muscle to get to fatigue faster and without as much stress through the muscle and joint. In other words, you get the same fatigue with a body weight squat as you would with 200 pounds on your back, without all the stress. There’s a lot of science behind it that probably doesn’t matter to you, but what really matters is that by using blood flow restriction during an exercise, you get a big increase in strength and muscle growth that you wouldn’t normally get without a lot of weight being lifted.

WHO SHOULD USE IT?

If you are dealing with or recovering from an injury then it is a great option for you. When you are injured, you aren’t able to put as much stress through that body part. Unfortunately, what makes your injury better is to get that body part stronger. It’s a catch 22 and what makes injury recovery so difficult. With blood flow restriction you are able to strengthen the injured body part without causing more pain or causing any more damage to your body.

IS IT SAFE?

Absolutely! While reducing blood flow to your leg sounds scary, it’s actually very safe. There are not any major known side effects from it and it is safe to use with almost any condition. If you’re not sure, just ask!
